Is free dress in your business contributing to bullying?

Bullying in the workplace is commonplace and comes in many guises. So, what is bullying? Simply, it is the mistreatment of someone vulnerable by someone in a perceived position of power.

Mistreatment can include exclusion because of appearance, maybe due to a person's size and often ostracised because the way they look or the way they dress. Mistreatment due to financial differences - an affordability index of some sort as the person being bullied may not be able to afford to look or dress like someone on a higher wage, with higher disposable income.

From personal experience we understand the desire to fit in, the pressure to comply and the struggle this can be to achieve for some members of our community.

We believe the introduction of workday apparel can play a part in the reduction of bullying under these circumstances, levelling those economic differences by providing access to apparel to suit all shapes and sizing. In so doing, an organisation has the opportunity to create one team that exudes the same style and image and eliminates the opportunity for bullies to evoke fear and intimidation upon those vulnerable members of an organisation due to look or financial limitation.
